In September 2017, the Job Haines Home had a grand opening of their newly renovated 13,400 square foot facility in Bloomfield, New Jersey. The pre-existing space was originally built in 1903, but with its recent facelift now creates a welcoming environment, while maintaining the historical significance of the original house. Vericon Construction Company was the General Contractor and completed the renovations on the interior and the exterior portion of the building.
The renovations lasted 10 months and included a long list of improvements. Phase one entailed enlarging the clinic, staff and administrative areas on both the first and second floors. In addition, the physical therapy space, located in the South Wing basement, was doubled in size. The second floor, originally utilized for storage, was transformed into new offices, a conference and multipurpose room, employee kitchen, locker room and a training room. Lastly, the interior of the third floor and attic were refreshed and now house extra storage for the facility.
Phase two involved renovations to the exterior structure, which were minor repairs to the limestone and brick façade as well as maintenance to the roof. Additionally, Vericon built an elevator tower on to the house to maintain code compliance for handicap access while conserving the original architectural structure.
